A Homegrown Pilates Studio in Singapore: My National Day Reflection
I’ve been looking forward to this long weekend — a little time to slow down, spend time with the people I love, and of course, celebrate Singapore’s 61st birthday. National Day always feels a little special to me. This year it’s had me thinking about what it means to build a Pilates studio in Singapore.
Built in Singapore, By the People Who Showed Up
The Core Reformery was born and built right here in Singapore, and I’m incredibly proud that we’re a homegrown brand. From our very first studio to the community we have today, we’ve grown because of the people who walked through our doors. They supported us, and kept coming back.
That’s really the story of any Pilates studio in Singapore that lasts — it isn’t built by one person. Rather, it’s built by every client who returned for another class. Also, every friend who referred someone new, and every instructor who joined and brought their own care and expertise to the floor contributes to that story.
Singapore is home. And The Core Reformery, in its own little way, has become home too.
Why I Structured the Studios the Way I Did
Part of building a homegrown Pilates studio in Singapore that actually serves people well meant getting the structure right. Purvis Studio keeps classes small — a maximum of four — so beginners can build a real foundation before moving on. Meanwhile, North Bridge Studio, with room for up to eight, is where clients progress into intermediate and advanced work once they’re ready.
If you’re new to reformer Pilates and not sure where to start, my team is always happy to point you toward the right level rather than have you guess. And if you’re recovering from an injury or navigating a postpartum body, I’d always recommend starting with a private session rather than a group class. This way your instructor can build a plan around exactly where you are.
It’s part of why reformer work is often recommended for injury rehab and pre/postnatal fitness in the first place — the Cleveland Clinic notes that Pilates can help heal injuries and improve chronic issues like back pain. This is especially true when it’s approached at the right pace.
Celebrating 61 Years, Together
So in celebration of our nation’s 61st birthday, we’re taking $61 off our 25-Class Pack and Private Pilates packages this month of August. It’s a little something from me to you. Just use the promo code “SG61” during checkout.
It’s a small gesture, but it comes from a genuine place. Running a Pilates studio in Singapore has taught me that growth doesn’t happen in isolation — it happens because a community decides to keep showing up. If you’ve been meaning to try reformer Pilates, or you’re a long-time client thinking about topping up, this feels like the right moment. Take a look at our group class memberships. Alternatively, get in touch about private sessions if you’d prefer more individual attention.
Have a Wonderful Long Weekend
Long weekends look different for everyone. Whether you’re travelling, celebrating, catching up with family and friends, or doing absolutely nothing at all, I hope it’s a good one.
It’s worth noting that Singapore’s growing culture of fitness and wellness has been shaped in part by national efforts like the Health Promotion Board’s ongoing push for people to build regular movement into their everyday routines. This is something I think about often in the work we do.
Happy 61st, Singapore. This is home, truly.
