What to Expect at Purvis Studio

Step into Purvis Studio — a small, intentional reformer Pilates studio in the heart of Singapore. Small groups, personalised teaching, and a space designed to make you breathe.

This is a guide for anyone who’s curious, a little nervous, or just wondering if this is the right place for them.

There’s a moment that happens at Purvis Studio that I’ve noticed with almost every new client.

They walk in, take a look around, and visibly exhale.

I built the studio with that in mind. Not the exhale specifically — you can’t design for that exactly — but everything that leads to it. The light. The quiet. The size of the room. The fact that when you walk through the door, Singapore outside stops feeling quite so loud.

That’s what Purvis Studio is for.

A small studio, on purpose

We’re not a big studio. We have four reformers, and that’s intentional.

In a smaller space, your instructor knows your name before your second class. She remembers that your lower back was tight last week, or that you’ve been working on your shoulder mobility, or that you’re newly postpartum and figuring out what your body can do again.

That kind of attention isn’t possible in a room of twenty. It’s only possible when the group is small enough that everyone in it actually matters as an individual.

At Purvis Studio, you are not just filling a spot on the reformer.

What the classes feel like

The classes at Purvis Studio are foundation-focused — which doesn’t mean easy, it means intentional.

We teach to your body, not to a choreography. If something doesn’t feel right, we adjust. If you’re working around an injury or coming back from a long break, we meet you where you are.

The classes you’ll find here — Align, Elongate, Flex, Mat, and Core — as well as private sessions are designed to build you from the inside out. Proper form, proper breath, proper understanding of what your body is actually doing. That foundation is what makes everything else possible later.

If you’re brand new to reformer Pilates, this is where to start. If you’ve been doing Pilates for years but feel like you’ve been going through the motions, this is also where to start.

What to bring

Just yourself and a pair of grip socks — we sell them at the studio if you don’t have a pair yet.

Everything else is taken care of. The reformers are set up for you, the space is clean, and there will always be someone to walk you through things before class if it’s your first time.

Where we are

We’re at Purvis Street, Bugis, in the heart of the town. Easy to get to before work, after work, or in between. The kind of place you can slot into your day without it feeling like a production.

One last thing..

A lot of people come to Purvis Studio for the first time feeling a little unsure. Maybe you’ve heard Pilates is hard, or that reformer studios are intimidating, or that you need to already be fit to start.

None of that is true here.

You just need to show up. We’ll take care of the rest.
